Position Description

- This is not an assistant role -- we arelooking for a sharp, experienced HR professional who can run HR operations end to end and who is just as strong at improving processes.
- You’ll join a small remote HR team that reports to our HR leadership.
- We pay at the top of the market because we expect top-of-the-market work: precise, fast, error-free, and always improving.
- Process improvement is a core part of this job --ee run on Lean principles. About 80% of your time goes to doing the work and about 20% to improving it.

Key Responsitiblites

- Look at every HR process critically and ask whether it’s the best way to do it
- Find waste, extra steps, rework, and the causes of errors, then design and test better ways
- Present improvements to the team, get buy-in, and turn them into the standard
- Document the one best way in clear step-by-step instructions in our HR training manual so everyone does it the same way
- Build checklists, trackers, and safeguards so errors don’t happen in the first place
- Use AI tools and automation to take repetitive manual work off the team
- Measure results in time saved, errors cut, and costs reduced
- Payroll: Run bi-weekly payroll for about 170 US employees and contractors, including time cards, PTO, expenses, bonuses, and travel time, with zero errors.
- Recruiting: Manage Indeed ads, screen candidates, run and document interviews, check references, and help us hire A-players.
- Onboarding and offboarding: Prepare contracts, run background checks, verify licenses, and set up systems.
- Employee relations: Answer employee questions clearly and professionally, and support performance reviews and policy enforcement.
- HR documentation: Keep our HR training manual, policies, and templates accurate and up to date.

Locations & Travel

- 100% Remote

Schedule:

- Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time.
- Applicants must be able to work during Central Time Zone business hours. Headquarters located in Houston, Texas.
- Weekends: Occasional Saturday work may be required as needed (rare).

- Proven process-improvement experience: you can point to specific processes you redesigned and the measurable results. Lean, Six Sigma (Yellow or Green Belt), business analysis, or industrial engineering is a big plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You find the root cause instead of applying quick fixes.

- Tech savviness - Experience with EMR systems and Google Workspace
