The Software Architect is a senior hands-on architecture role responsible for designing, evolving, and governing modern enterprise software solutions across multiple strategic projects. This role will help define scalable, secure, observable, cloud-ready, and AI-driven architectures using API standards, contemporary software architecture patterns, and modern engineering practices. Strong .NET expertise is required for the current enterprise portfolio, but the role is intentionally broader than a single technology stack.
Essential Responsibilities
- Design modern enterprise software architectures using current and emerging technology platforms, with strong hands-on application of .NET 10, ASP.NET Core, C#, REST APIs, and cloud-ready engineering practices.
- Define architecture solutions for multiple concurrent projects, typically 3 to 4 initiatives at the same time.
- Lead architectural design and modernization efforts for enterprise platforms, including Billing & Rating, BITA, and VLog.
- Design scalable, secure, and maintainable backend solutions using modern patterns.
- Define and review API contracts using
OpenAPI / Swagger
, including API versioning, request/response models, error standards, and integration boundaries.
- Apply architecture frameworks and practices such as C4 Model, ADRs, Azure Well-Architected Framework, arc42, UML, BPMN, TOGAF, or ArchiMate as appropriate.
- Design cloud-ready and hybrid solutions using Azure.
- Provide architectural guidance for on-premise systems, legacy applications, deployment processes, and modernization paths toward cloud or hybrid architectures.
- Review, supervise, and validate code and architecture deliverables from internal teams, third-party vendors, and contractors.
- Collaborate with other architects to align application, integration, security, data, infrastructure, and cloud architecture decisions.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Backend, Frontend, QA, DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Participate in technical reviews, code reviews, design reviews, and production issue analysis.
- Support root cause analysis and technical diagnosis for complex production or integration issues.
- Define testing and validation strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, contract testing, OpenAPI validation, mock servers, Testcontainers, or Docker Compose when applicable.
- Support CI/CD and deployment modernization using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Pipelines, Docker, Container Registry, Infrastructure as Code, dependency scanning, and automated quality gates.
- Lead the adoption of AI-assisted software delivery practices across the Software Development team, including AI-assisted requirements documentation, code generation, test generation, deployment support, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
- Define governance practices for AI-assisted engineering, including human review, validation, exception handling, security, quality gates, and accountability for generated artifacts.
- Promote knowledge sharing, technical mentoring,
and architecture consistency across development teams.
- Actively participate in Agile / Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software architecture, solution architecture, technical leadership, or senior technical design roles.
- Strong hands-on backend experience with C#, modern .NET (.NET 8 / .NET 10), ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, Controllers, and Minimal APIs.
- Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, enterprise integrations, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of API governance, OpenAPI / Swagger, API versioning, error handling standards, and contract-first development.
- Experience designing secure systems using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, RBAC, permissions, scopes, and secure secret management.
- Experience with observability practices, including structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, dashboards, Application Insights, Azure Monitor, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with cloud or hybrid architectures, preferably on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with Docker, containerized deployments, and infrastructure concepts.
- Experience with legacy systems, on-premise environments, production support, deployment processes, and modernization initiatives.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum teams.
- ITIL 4 certification - REQUIRED
