Custom High-Speed Race Cars
Location: Querétaro, Qro., Mexico
Contract Type: Temporary Assignment (1 Year, Full-time)
Company: SEGULA Technologies
Position Overview
Are you ready to push engineering to the absolute limit where milliseconds, aerodynamics, and structural integrity make or break victory? SEGULA Technologies is seeking a high-octane Chassis Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the end-to-end design, development, and integration of high-performance chassis components for custom, high-speed race cars.
In this role, you won't just draw parts you will own chassis concepts from initial CAD geometry through intense testing and track delivery. If you live for motorsport engineering, lightweight structures, and hyper-responsive handling, this is your arena.
Key Responsibilities
- Chassis Architecture & Design: Own the 3D CAD modeling, packaging, and design release of custom race chassis systems, including suspension geometry, subframes, steering systems, braking setups, and high-load structural mounts.
- Performance Optimization: Perform topology optimization, stress analysis, and material selection (advanced steels, aluminum alloys, and composite materials) to maximize torsional rigidity while minimizing weight.
- DFMEA & Engineering Release: Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and oversee the complete release cycle of chassis components in compliance with motorsport regulations and strict safety standards.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Partner closely with aerodynamics, powertrain, and vehicle dynamics engineering teams to ensure seamless packaging and optimal weight distribution across the vehicle platform.
- Supplier & Prototype Management: Collaborate with specialized motorsport suppliers, rapid prototyping teams, and fabrication shops to oversee prototype build quality, fitment, and race-ready tolerances.
- Trackside & Testing Support: Validate designs through rigorous structural testing and bench validation, analyzing track telemetry and driver feedback to rapidly iterate chassis component performance.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in automotive chassis design, structural engineering, or race car engineering platforms.
- CAD & Engineering Tools: Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks) and surface design modules.
- Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of suspension kinematics, chassis dynamics, welding/fabrication techniques, and high-strength lightweight materials.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to execute rapid technical iterations under fast-paced engineering schedules.
Preferred / Dynamic Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Formula Student / FSAE , GT racing, off-road racing, or professional motorsport teams.
- Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, or Altair OptiStruct) for rapid structural assessment.
- Familiarity with data acquisition tools (MoTeC, AiM, or similar) to translate track data into engineering design improvements.
- Strong bilingual communication skills (Spanish & English) for technical collaboration across integral teams.
