Sanctions Analyst
Purpose of the role
The analyst is responsible for performing Quality Assurance (QA) activities across the Regional Centre of Excellence (CoE) for sanctions alert adjudication, acting as the first line of defence in overseeing sanctions risk within the CoE.
The role ensures that adjudication decisions are aligned with QA procedures, the Global Sanctions Policy and applicable regulations. It also involves identifying trends, issuing recommendations and escalating critical errors where appropriate.

- Analysis and Issue Tracking: Identify trends, prepare reports, agree recommendations, record issues and verify the closure of previous problems and audit findings.
- Compliance and Governance: Apply HSBC policies and sanctions regulations, keep procedures up to date, meet agreed deadlines and ensure appropriate records retention.
- Audit and Controls: Act as the regional point of contact, support Internal Audit and Legal, implement recommendations and help update documentation.
- Collaboration and Development: Take responsibility for professional development, maintain effective relationships with sanctions teams and support global initiatives as an Subject Matter Expert
