- Position overview: We are looking for a Java Tech Lead to lead the initiative to enhance overall website security through the implementation of a biometric authentication solution provided by a strategic vendor. The primary goal is to increase transaction security for ticket purchases with miles, creating the right balance between security friction and maintaining high conversion rates.
- The Java Tech Lead will combine technical excellence with team leadership, mentoring developers, defining system architecture, and ensuring continuous delivery of secure, high-quality solutions that drive measurable business impact.
- Responsibilities: Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to developers
- Foster psychological safety, collaboration, and conflict resolution within the team
- Build and sustain high-performance squads
- Define technical strategy and oversee system architecture
- Ensure quality implementation, manage technical debt, and promote innovation
- Monitor and enforce system health metrics, including performance, observability, and security
- Collaborate with PMs and stakeholders in solution discovery and delivery, focusing on incremental value
- Integrate critical requirements such as security, performance,



and observability into the delivery lifecycle
- Lead the successful implementation of the biometric authentication solution
- Promote continuous improvement of Agile practices
- Manage technical dependencies across teams
- Facilitate ceremonies and align technical objectives with strategic business goals
- 3+ years as a Tech Lead in Java-based environments
- Strong expertise in: Java, Spring Boot, SQL, API Security, REST APIs, Git
- Design Patterns, SOLID principles
- Secure data handling and transfer
- Automated testing frameworks
- Proven track record of leading teams and delivering secure, high-quality enterprise solutions
- Experience integrating third-party security solutions (e.g., biometrics, authentication services)
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Nice to have: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Ability to balance security requirements with user experience and business outcomes
- Familiarity with cloud environments and vendor integration best practices
- Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are highly desirable
