Project Manager – Pharmaceutical Technology
You won't be one of many project coordinators. You'll own the account.
Merck's Naucalpan site manufactures for some of the world's largest companies. We're looking for a Project Manager to take full ownership of the entire project portfolio of one of our key global consumer-goods clients — and to be the single name attached to it.
You run the meetings. You build the schedules. You control the budget. And when the client or our general teams need an answer, you're the person they call.
The mandate
One client. Every project. End to end.
Everything that client has moving through our plant is yours: scope, schedule, cost and quality. Nothing gets escalated over your head, and nothing moves without you knowing about it.
⚙️ What you'll be doing
- Own the portfolio. Every project of the account, from kick-off to close — you're accountable for all of it.
- Build and defend the timelines. You'll live in MS Project, and you'll hold every area to the dates you commit.
- Control the numbers. Budget planning, cost control and the billing tied to each project.
- Run the client relationship. Meetings, progress reports, escalations. You are the face of the plant to them.
- Partner across the site. Planning, Quality and Supply Chain — daily, and with real influence.
- Guarantee compliance. GMP, NOM-059 and the regulatory requirements of every market we export to. Non-negotiable.
- Drive technology transfers. New products, reformulations and the qualification of new raw-material suppliers.
- Report locally and globally. Including the monthly status report to the Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical Technology Directors.
- See risks coming. And build the remediation plans that keep them from becoming delays.
Why this role is worth your attention
You'll lead without authority — and that's the point.
No direct reports. You move a plant through clarity, credibility and negotiation. It's the hardest version of project management, and the one that actually builds a career.
Your work will be visible far beyond Mexico.
You'll coordinate with Merck's Global Healthcare Operations teams and with a key stakeholder based in France. This is international exposure without leaving the country.
Full ownership at a stage where most people are still executing someone else's plan.
Four years into most careers, you're managing a piece of a project. Here, you manage the account.
A plant where the standard is genuinely high.
Regulated, audited, exporting to multiple markets. If you want to sharpen how you work, this is the environment that does it.
Merck.
A science and technology company with more than 350 years of history, operating in 65+ countries. In healthcare, life science and electronics.
What you need to bring
- A degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (QFB / QFI) or equivalent.
- At least 4 years managing projects as the accountable owner — not as a participant.
- Solid experience in regulated environments : GMP, quality systems, manufacturing and packaging processes.
- Hands-on budget planning and control .
- Working-level English. You can hold a meeting and land an idea without hesitating.
- Strong command of MS Project and the Office suite.
- A background in pharmaceutical, chemical or food manufacturing . If you come from consumer goods, we'll be looking for prior pharma experience.
- The temperament for it: organized, direct, comfortable pushing back, and calm when three things break at once.
✨ Nice to have
SAP · PMP or equivalent certification · Technology transfer experience · Previous work with external clients under contract-manufacturing agreements · German
