OverviewThe Accounting Lead will serve as the technical accounting expert for the Mexico accounting team, supporting the Controller in maintaining accurate financial reporting and strengthening accounting operations.This role is responsible for leading complex accounting activities, reviewing the work of other accountants, identifying accounting risks, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP.Unlike a traditional people manager role, this position is primarily focused on technical accounting excellence.The successful candidate will act as the team's accounting subject matter expert while providing day‐to‐day guidance and support to junior accounting staff.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical AccountingLead the month‐end, quarter‐end, and year‐end close processReview complex journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesEnsure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policiesPerform detailed balance sheet and P&L; reviewsReview accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and revenue recognitionIdentify accounting errors before financial statements are finalizedInvestigate variances and unusual accounting activityPrepare and review account reconciliations with complete supporting documentationSupport external and internal auditsLeadershipServe as the primary technical accounting resource for the Mexico accounting teamReview work prepared by Staff and Senior AccountantsCoach team members on accounting concepts and best practicesProvide guidance during the month‐end close processPromote accountability, ownership, and strong accounting controlsEscalate material accounting issues and reporting risks proactivelyProcess ImprovementIdentify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes and internal controlsStandardize reconciliations and month‐end close proceduresImprove documentation and audit readinessRecommend solutions for recurring accounting issuesPartner closely with the Controller on process improvementsRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Public AccountingActive Professional License (Cédula Cualificado)8‐15+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong full‐cycle accounting experienceExtensive month‐end close experienceAdvanced US GAAP knowledgeStrong balance sheet reconciliation experienceAdvanced accrual accounting knowledgeExperience reviewing and correcting journal entriesExperience identifying accounting risks before financial reportingExperience mentoring or supervising accounting staffAdvanced ExcelProfessional English communication skillsPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience in a small public accounting firmProperty accounting experienceYardi experienceERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.)Experience supporting U.S. companiesExperience participating in external audits#J-*****-Ljbffr
