Elisia Education Hub and the School of Architecture and Design at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) seek a well-prepared, competent, and energetic Academic Director for the Architecture, Interior Design, and Digital Arts programs, newly incoming at the EEH campus in Querétaro, MX. POSITION PURPOSE The Academic Director of Architecture and Design position is established to ensure that the NYIT School of Architecture & Design programs delivered at Elisia Education Hub are academically administered under the oversight of the New York Institute of Technology, while being operationally supported by EEH. The Academic Director of Architecture and Design will be a forward-thinking leader who actively understands and addresses the momentum of technological transformation driven by interdisciplinary programs and collaborations, computational design advances, and emerging artificial intelligence systems, digital fabrication tools, and techniques. The position provides the academic leadership necessary to maintain equivalency with NYIT academic standards, oversee faculty qualifications and performance, ensure curriculum integrity, monitor student learning outcomes, and support compliance with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and all applicable professional accreditation requirements such as NAAB and CIDA. The position also serves as the principal academic liaison between NYIT and EEH, ensuring effective coordination between both institutions while supporting the strategic growth and long-term success of the School of Architecture & Design. This position is established to ensure that the academic administration of the NYIT School of Architecture & Design at Elisia Education Hub is conducted under NYIT's academic leadership, maintaining equivalency of academic quality, faculty oversight, curriculum implementation, student learning outcomes, and accreditation compliance with NYIT's home campus. Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Arts Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design REPORTING RELATIONSHIP The Academic Director shall report directly to the Vice Rector of Elisia Education Hub, with overall institutional oversight by the President & CEO of EEH. The position shall be responsible for the academic leadership of the NYIT School of Architecture & Design within EEH and shall operate within the institutional budget, strategic priorities, and administrative framework established by EEH. For purposes of academic administration, curriculum implementation, faculty oversight, academic quality, and accreditation compliance, the Academic Director shall maintain a direct academic reporting relationship with Maria Perbellini, Dean of the NYIT School of Architecture and Design, ensuring that all NYIT academic standards, policies, and accreditation requirements are fully implemented across the School Programs. Dean Perbellini and her leadership team at NYIT will operate in alignment with the Vice Rector of Elisia Education Hub. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide academic leadership for all NYIT School of Architecture & Design programs offered at EEH. Ensure compliance with academic policies, academic regulations, faculty standards, and student academic requirements for NYIT and EEH and their respective institutional accrediting bodies. Oversee curriculum implementation, course quality, learning outcomes, academic assessment, and continuous improvement. Participate in faculty recruitment, review credentials, and recommend faculty for NYIT approval for NYIT School of Architecture & Design within EEH. Supervise, mentor, evaluate, and support faculty development and academic performance for NYIT School of Architecture & Design within EEH. Supervise staff dedicated to the administration and assistance of the Director’s office and staff providing operational services to the programs. Lead accreditation readiness and continuous compliance with applicable professional accreditation standards (NAAB and CIDA). Coordinate program assessment, institutional effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor student academic progress, retention, timely graduation, and academic integrity.
Oversee the academic operation of studios, fabrication laboratories, and specialized instructional spaces. Advise EEH leadership on academic planning, resource needs, laboratory development, and future program expansion in coordination with the vision, future goals and strategies, curriculum design, and new and revised pedagogies of NYIT SOAD. Serve as the principal academic liaison between NYIT and EEH for all School of Architecture & Design matters and developments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Terminal degree (Ph. D., D. Arch., M. Arch.) in Architecture from an accredited institution. Minimum eight (8) years of university-level teaching experience in one or more disciplines related to the position and consistent with NYIT faculty qualification standards. Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative leadership experience in one or more roles (Department Chair, Associate Dean, Program Director, or equivalent). Proven experience with architecture and interior design studios, and professional design education. Ability to understand the continuous evolution of emerging technologies and the upgrading of digital fabrication laboratories and facilities. Demonstrated experience with higher education accreditation, preferably MSCHE and/or architecture and design accreditation processes (NAAB and CIDA). Experience in curriculum revision and development, faculty supervision, assessment of student learning outcomes, and academic quality assurance. Proficiency in using and understanding data for decision-making processes. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills. Fluent English (written and spoken); Spanish proficiency preferred. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in international higher education or transnational education partnerships. Experience with Digital Arts and Graphic Design disciplines. Interest in and understanding of the advancement of computational methods and techniques. Knowledge of U. S. higher education governance and accreditation practices.
