Maintenance Manager
Position Type: Independent Contractor (with potential to be directly hired)
We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Head of Maintenance to lead the maintenance operations of our clients' advanced aluminum die casting facility. This role requires a deep and practical understanding of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and automation systems, as well as the leadership capability to manage a multidisciplinary maintenance team in a fast-paced industrial environment. The idóneo candidate will have deep technical expertise and proven leadership in maintaining and improving complex machinery and systems, including die casting machines, CNC machining centers, vacuum and jet cooling systems, shot blasting, leakage testing, impregnation, and other critical technical processes. He/She must be able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues directly on the shop floor.
Lead and manage the maintenance team (mechanical, electrical, automation) to ensure optimal performance, safety, and uptime of all plant equipment.
Develop and implement a robust preventive and predictive maintenance program across all machinery and utilities.
Provide expert-level hands-on support in troubleshooting and repairing:
Hydraulic systems (including high-pressure systems used in die casting machines)
Electrical systems (including motor control panels, sensors, PLCs, HMIs, and safety systems)
Mechanical assemblies (including clamping systems, ejector mechanisms, and cooling circuits)
Automation and basic programming (especially for CNC and PLC-controlled equipment)
Perform and guide root cause analysis for recurring issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain and troubleshoot high-tonnage aluminum die casting machines, vacuum systems, and jet cooling units.




Oversee maintenance of CNC machining centers, shot blasting units, leakage testing systems, and impregnation lines.
Ensure quick and effective troubleshooting and repair of breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
Establish and maintain spare parts inventory systems to ensure availability without excessive stock.
Analyze recurring issues and implement root cause analysis to develop sustainable corrective actions.
Plan and manage maintenance budgets, including cost optimization without compromising operational efficiency.
Coordinate with production, quality, and engineering teams for cross-functional support and project planning.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) regulations and company policies.
Train, mentor, and develop technical staff to continuously improve team capabilities.
Requirements
Technical degree or diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or related field.
10+ years of hands-on maintenance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a die casting or similar industrial environment.
In-depth knowledge of:
Die casting machines (FRECH, OMS)
Vacuum and jet cooling systems
CNC machining and automation (DMG, Makino, Kitamura, Chiron)
Shot blasting, leakage testing, and impregnation equipment
Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly in hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and basic electrical systems.
Experience implementing TPM, CMMS, or similar maintenance systems is a must.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
