JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Hotel Openings leads the pre‑opening journey for hotels across all brands for US, Canada, and CALA, partnering closely with Marriott International stakeholders, ownership groups, management companies, and property leadership teams. This role helps guide hotels from early planning through opening by ensuring brand standards, programs, and initiatives are consistently applied across product quality, training certification, and service delivery.

Acting as a trusted advisor to Above-Property and Brand teams, the Senior Manager supports hotels in achieving strong guest and associate satisfaction while driving sales and profitability goals. The role also focuses on building and strengthening owner relationships, managing multiple openings simultaneously, and maintaining clear, well‑structured project documentation and processes that enable strong execution and elevate overall team performance.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required

- 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or other related field; OR a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge can be gained
- Working knowledge of key Marriott systems and platforms, including MARSHA, PMS, GXP, Digital Guest Experiences, Marriott Bonvoy, and Office 365
- 5+ years’ experience in hotel operations leadership
- Fluent in English and Spanish

Preferred

- Knowledge of brand standards, job descriptions, and culture of all Marriott brands




- Multiple Unit Select Brand General Manager and/or Full-Service Leader experience
- Experience with public speaking and presentation skills to a wide array of audiences

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

- Authorize and manage 30–40 hotel openings annually, overseeing end‑to‑end project execution—including design alignment, timelines, and brand requirements—while ensuring completion of Authority to Open letters and Property Improvement Plans.
- Support brand equity and growth by guiding field operations and hotel teams in meeting brand standards for service, product quality, and sustainable hotel performance.
- Lead pre-opening activities, including site visits, operational readiness calls, and training webinars, collaborating with Headquarters stakeholders and operational leaders to ensure hotels are prepared for opening and best practices are implemented.
- Provide timely post-opening turnover reports for each project, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for hotel leadership, owners, and stakeholders to address.
- Oversee the conversion and opening process, ensuring product quality, training, system installation, guest service, and opening supplies meet brand standards, while collaborating with owners, franchisees, and hotel teams to complete opening activities
- Monitor and drive efforts to ensure that Guest Satisfaction Survey goals for newly opened and converted hotels are consistently met or exceeded.




- Serve as a key liaison between hotel ownership, brand, and operations, fostering strong relationships with Owner / Franchisee organizations to ensure adherence to brand standards and promote the growth of Marriott product.
- Lead owner and franchisee engagement during assigned hotel openings, serving as the primary project contact to ensure alignment, timely decision‑making, and adherence to brand requirements.
- Provide senior‑level project leadership for hotel openings within the field, driving effective communication, collaboration, and issue escalation across owners, brand teams, field operations, and above‑property stakeholders.
- Support owner and hotel leadership alignment through participation in opening‑related orientations, meetings, and selected brand or owner forums.
- Oversee and maintain opening‑specific documentation, tools, and digital resources, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with current opening requirements and standards.
- Champion the implementation of brand standards and opening policies by educating hotel teams and enforcing compliance throughout the opening lifecycle.
- Ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
