JOB TITLE: Production Superintendent

SUPERVISES: Production Supervisors

BASIC FUNCTION:

1. Responsible for all operational aspects of the fabrication, extrusion and production supporting departments including people, equipment and supplies.

2. Supervision of production Supervisors.

3. Ensure that production levels, uptime rates and overall production meets established standards and expectations.

4. Ensure that customer requirements are understood and met and properly follow the QMS.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Ensures and enforces safety culture in all areas of responsibility.

a. Leads by example and maintains visibility by spending minimum 50% of time on the working floor.

b. Participates in and supports the Health and Safety Committee.

c. Participates in accident and incident investigations in conjunction with the safety department and the Health and Safety Committee.

d. Evaluates safety performance and provides rewards and discipline as needed.

e. Is pro-active in improving safety program and policies.

2. Initiates and supports development of technology to improve the safety, quality, reliability, and cost competitiveness of processes at the MAGM facility.

a. Supports the assistant or general manager in evaluating new technology and initiates PDRs for capital improvement.

b. Promotes and supports Environmental Improvement efforts.

c. Participates in the design, installation, commissioning and training for new equipment and processes.

3. Promotes a spirit of cooperation with other departments such as planning, maintenance, shipping, sales, quality assurance and human resources as well as upper management.

a. Ensures that planning and purchasing are well informed of the required materials and consumables to meet production needs.

b. Responsible for supplying resources such as personnel, training and effective leadership and cooperation with other department heads.

Works with Assistant Manager / General Manager to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, cost control, and customer service

4. Responsible for the overall quality of products produced in the Fabrication and Extrusion Departments.

a. Assigns responsibility for quality performance in the Fabrication and Extrusion Departments and provides rewards and discipline as needed.

b. Participates in and supports quality investigations and manages implementation of corrective action in the Fabrication and Extrusion Departments

c. Participates in yield meetings as lead person and works to eliminate waste and improve yields.

d. Interfaces directly with customers as needed.

e. Promotes Mag Specialties’ high-quality standards site wide.

f. Ensures that all personnel are properly trained based on the QMS so jobs performed are certified; keep system updated accordingly.

5. Supervises – Production supervisors, including evaluation of performance and coaching for employee development.

a. Manages the Performance Review process for direct and second level reviews.

b. Sets salary adjustments for all areas of responsibility, keeping within Site guidelines.

c. Participates in the development and implementation of site hiring program.

d. Provides guidance and coaching to supervisors to promote a continuous improvement environment in safety, quality, supervising and interpersonal relationships issues.

6. Participates in annual budget development and justifies overages in areas of responsibility monthly.

PRIMARY MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:

Completion of the expectation of base line performance for employees.

· Adhere to the employee guidelines.

· Maintain consistent work hours of on time arrival, departure and use of working hours.

· Extend respect and cooperation to all coworkers, contractors, suppliers and customers.

· Adhere to guidelines for use of company computer, cell phone and internet.

2. Number of recordable safety incidents.

3. Number of quality incidents and CARs.

4. On time shipments.

5. Machine up-time versus standard.

6. Machine output versus standard.

7. Adherence to annual budget related to profit and loss reports.

8. Presente cost versus standard.

9. Initiative in process improvements and cost reduction.

10. Coaching skills demonstrated in the supervision of subordinates and communication with co-workers.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. College degree in engineering or business management.

2. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

3. Maintenance experience is a plus.

4. Experience in a metal-mechanic maquiladora industry with a 24-hour operation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Physical Effort: Frequent periods of standing or sitting in the same location. Daily walking tours involving the observation of personnel and equipment operation to maintain safety and productivity of employees and equipment.

2. Environment: Daily exposure to noise, heat and moving machinery can cause discomfort.

3. Sensory Attention: Frequent need to pay close attention, either seeing or hearing, to what is happening.

4. Mental Stress: There is continuous pressure from deadlines, multiple priorities, production problems, or other demands. Frequent employee problems create unpleasant contacts or concerns. Family and social life is disrupted due to travel and plant responsibilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $30,001.00 per month

Work Location: In person
