The 1st Class Ship Fitter is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing structural components of ships and other marine vessels in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and shipyard standards.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine layout, assembly, and installation procedures.
Cut, align, fit, and tack structural ship components using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.




Use cutting torches, grinders, and hand tools to prepare metal surfaces and cut materials.
Ensure quality and accuracy in all fitting and fabrication work.
Assist with lifting and positioning large components using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment.
Collaborate with welders, pipefitters, and other skilled trades to complete vessel construction and repair projects.
Minimum of 3 years of shipfitting or related fabrication experience in a shipyard or heavy industrial environment.
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and measuring instruments.
