Job Summary
The Value Stream Engineer is responsible for driving product cost optimization, manufacturing efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across assigned product lines. This position collaborates closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and customers to identify value engineering opportunities, improve manufacturing processes, support commercial initiatives, and successfully implement engineering changes.
The role also supports Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) activities by aligning customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and operational execution to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and business growth.
Manufacturing Value Engineering
- Identify and lead Value Engineering (VE) and Value Analysis (VA) projects focused on product cost reduction and profitability improvement.
- Analyze BOMs, manufacturing routings, labor utilization, scrap,
and overhead costs to identify operational improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of cost reduction initiatives.
- Support DFM/DFA initiatives.
Manufacturing Process Improvement
- Lead process improvement initiatives that increase productivity, improve quality, reduce waste, and optimize manufacturing performance.
- Support automation projects, yield improvements, and process optimization.
- Develop business cases supporting capital investments.
Customer & Commercial Support
- Serve as the engineering liaison for assigned customers regarding engineering changes, quality concerns, delivery escalations, and product deviations.
- Coordinate ECNs, PPAP documentation, deviation requests, and technical approvals.
- Support customer meetings, engineering reviews, audits, and technical discussions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Product Engineering, and Quality.
- Participate in SIOP activities by providing engineering input.
- Support new product introductions and engineering change implementation.
Continuous Improvement
- Promote Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Participate in Kaizen events and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Monitor project performance and cost savings.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering,
Industrial Engineering, Value Engineering, Process Engineering, or Continuous Improvement.
- Experience in cost reduction initiatives and manufacturing process optimization.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Value Engineering, and Continuous Improvement.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, BOMs, and manufacturing routings.
- Experience supporting customer engineering activities.
- Experience in electrical, automotive, wire harness, electromechanical, appliance, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP Certification.
- Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, IATF 16949, and ISO 9001.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
