ROLE
Reporting to the Operations lead of Integral Compute Platforms, the MultiCloud Administrator is a technology leader who will function as SME for compute technologies, with an emphasis on Multicloud technologies. The Multicloud Administrator will act as an enabler across technology teams, vendors, and project management teams to facilitate the successful delivery of complex Corning initiatives and priorities.
The role is predominantly internally focused, requiring strong communication skills to bridge between various Infrastructure and Application teams and navigate within a background of relative ambiguity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, configure, manage Windows servers
Install, configure, manage VMware vCloud Suite
Follow standards, policies & guidelines for the Compute Platform in collaboration with service line owner and technology teams
Develop, configure, and support compute solutions that meet business needs and align with Corning technology standards.
Evaluate all documents according to system requirements and evaluate all designs and perform tests on all development activities and administer all complex methodologies.
Support IT project start‑up through technical consultation, charter definition, benefit and analysis, requirements gathering, and formal PMO approval.
Partner with all members of the project team as a technical lead in the planning, design, coordination, and execution of comprehensive, realistic, and effective work plans.
Help promote & drive a consistent vision and strategy throughout the organization.
Build relationships that foster collaboration and partnerships to drive better strategies, priorities, and service to the customer. Assist and oversee quality change control according to Corning Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management and Disaster Recovery Methodology.
Provide support for the Multicloud environment
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four‑year college in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
WORK EXPERIENCE
3+ years of experience in server administration, with a focus on monitoring, patching, incident and problem management
3+ years’ experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting services, and cloud infrastructure.

Knowledge of Windows server OS platforms
Knowledge of VMware vCloud Suite including:
ESXi
Virtual Center
vRealize Operations
vRealize Automation
Experience supporting a global heterogeneous multi‑data center computing environment
A holistic understanding of IT infrastructure inclusive of server, storage, network, virtualization, database, DR/business recovery and continuity practices, etc.
A foundational understanding of public cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and providers (AWS, Azure, Google)
Demonstrated expertise driving operational improvement and excellence under an ITIL‑based service management model.
Proven ability to influence and interact effectively with peers and IT leaders
Strong crisis management
