As a recognized leader in the specification, design, development, validation and production launch of advanced vehicle and powertrain systems, IAV Automotive Engineering deploys a leading team of technical experts, engineering tools and program processes from its North American Headquarters in Novi, Michigan, USA.
**Essential Responsibilities & activities**:
- Development of ICE engines components.
- Transferring component specification (RFQ) into component design proposal including simple mechanical simulation
- Creation and modifying ICE components to fulfill specification (CAD work).
- Preparation of technical documentation (drawings, assembly instructions, update of specification, technical presentation, BOM)
- Participation in technical meetings and derivation of necessary technical tasks
- Tracking and adhering to schedules
- Check & release of supplier documentation (3D, drawings, quality reports, release documents)
- Coordination with component suppliers and handle deviation permission
- Communicate approval of evaluation of technical changes, collection of necessary technical documentation.
- Summarize and communicate results to all stakeholders, partners.
- May require domestic or international travel, as needed.
**Requirements**:
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years relevant experience
- Experience in developing mechanical systems, focus ICE
- Knowledge of development and release process (DVP)
- Knowledge of material and its mechanical properties including heat treatment
- Understanding of the different raw part creation processes (casting, forging) and its requirements
- Good knowledge about machining processes and machining sequences
- Functional dimensioning of components including tolerances, surface spec.
- Tolerance simulations
- Ready-to-use CAD knowledge in one CAD system (preferably in Creo, Catia or NX or willingness to familiarize yourself with one of these systems); CAD work varies from detailed casting modelling to package check; all levels welcome.
- Ability to create compact and meaningful presentations about the design status and recommend further actions
- Ability to work in a team, strong communication skills in English (level B2), German speaking is a plus.
