Senior Engineer, Molding
The Senior Molding Engineer will be part of Comm Scope’s GLOBAL MOLDCELL TEAM, based in Juárez, Mexico.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process: Develop manufacturing plans including capital requirements, component/tooling, assembly methods, test plans, and manufacturing requirements to introduce new or enhanced product designs. Develop cost‑effective methods to produce components required on New Product Introduction (NPI) and Profit Improvement Plan (PIP) projects.
- Implementation: Implement manufacturing plans, coordinate procurement, design, build, and debug of component tooling, assembly tooling/machinery, and manufacturing test equipment. Verify manufacturing processes, methods, tooling capabilities, and capacity. Implement manufacturing processes and/or part qualifications into manufacturing systems.
- Development: Review product designs and manufacturing plans with NPI Project Teams at strategic points, including design review prior to “Limited Availability”, CAR preparation and procurement, tool sampling and/or pre‑production runs, and ensuring documentation and operations systems are in place prior to “General Availability”.
- Project Management: Manage and track all internal/external production tooling and capital expenditures from approved CAR through final product release.
- Technical Assistance: Provide design engineering, supplier quality, and operations technical support to resolve manufacturing‑related issues and enhance product processing techniques and technologies.
- Special Projects: Execute special projects and duties as requested by Engineering Management. Contribute to improvement of department processes and operating procedures.
- Project Moves: Act as bridge between local mold engineer and the molder, bringing the mold into mass production at the final location with a contract manufacturer or internal molding plant.
- Self‑Development: Improve personal competencies,
maintain understanding of fiber‑optic product functions and applications, and keep abreast of state‑of‑the‑art design and manufacturing technologies.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mold‑making processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in English (written and spoken).
- 10 years of project management experience.
- Trainer‑level knowledge of injection molding manufacturing processes and mold design concepts.
- Good knowledge of resins and understanding of different materials used in molding, such as polymers and their properties.
- Experience with pressing equipment such as Engel, Milacron, Fanuc, Haitian, etc.
- Trainer‑level knowledge of Moldflow Analysis Software (Moldflow or Moldex3D), Pro‑E, Solid Works, and CREO or similar design software.
- Ability to travel domestically within the U.S. 30‑50%
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of fiber‑optic product and assembly methods.
- Knowledge of micro‑molding process.
