Overview
The RAM Engineer leads and executes the implementation of Robotics, Automation, and Manufacturing Information Systems (MIS) solutions. This role serves as a key bridge between Operations and R&D;, ensuring new products are manufacturable, efficient, and scalable by identifying technical risks and operational needs early in the design phase.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing solutions for new product introductions.
- Manage and maintain electrical test and traceability systems.
- Support production by diagnosing equipment and automation failures, performing root cause analysis, and implementing improvements.
- Collaborate with Design (R&D;) teams to evaluate manufacturability, identify technical, process, and capacity risks, and develop automation strategies aligned with cost, quality, and productivity targets.
- Define technical requirements for equipment and systems.
- Coordinate and support process validation activities (FAT, SAT).
- Manage suppliers, system integrators, and contractors for automation projects.
- Document standards, processes, and lessons learned for future implementations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and applicable regulatory standards.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in automation, robotics, or manufacturing engineering.
- Proven experience working in cross-functional environments (Operations, Quality, R&D;).
Technical Skills
- Bilingual (80% English & Spanish) both oral and written.
- Industrial automation systems (PLC Allen Bradley, Siemens, SCADA).
- Industrial robot programming and integration (FANUC).
- Electrical, electronic and pneumatic drawing reading.
- Process validation and line launch experience.
- Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of sensors, machine vision, or inspection systems (preferred).
- Communication protocols (CAN) is a plus.
- Understanding of industrial safety standards and machine compliance.
