Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Construction Estimator to serve as a founding operator responsible for translating construction plans into detailed quantity takeoffs and product specifications. This role combines hands-on estimating, technical product interpretation, and operational leadership. The idóneo candidate has deep familiarity with the US construction ecosystem and can act as a bridge between construction drawings, material sourcing, and internal operations.

In the early phase, the role will be highly hands-on with takeoffs and estimating. Over time, the individual will help build and manage a small operations team responsible for scaling estimating and product specification workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and construction estimates from architectural and engineering drawings.




- Interpret plans and specifications to identify required materials, assemblies, and building products.
- Translate construction drawings into structured product and materials data.
- Research and specify appropriate building materials based on project documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams working on construction data taxonomy and AI-driven workflows.
- Communicate with US-based stakeholders to clarify project requirements and specifications.
- Develop processes and documentation for estimating and product specification workflows.
- Support the hiring, training, and management of a small operations team (3–6 team members) as the function scales.
- Ensure that estimating outputs are accurate, structured, and delivered on schedule.

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, or preconstruction.
- Strong familiarity with US construction drawings, specifications, and materials.
- Experience performing detailed takeoffs from architectural and engineering plans.
- Proficiency with at least one estimating/takeoff tool such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or On-Screen Takeoff.
- Strong understanding of construction assemblies and building products across common trades.
- Ability to interpret drawings and independently research appropriate material specifications.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with US-based teams and clients.
- Experience working in remote or distributed teams is a plus.

Nice-to-Haves:

- Experience with multiple estimating platforms or construction management tools.
- Previous experience supporting US-based contractors, developers, or suppliers.
- Experience building or managing estimating or operations teams.
- Exposure to construction data structuring, BIM workflows, or AI-assisted construction processes.
