OPEN PIT MINING MANAGER

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead Barimont Minería's open-pit barite mining department. Connect the mine plan, ore quality, stripping, loading and haulage, equipment availability and mining cost. Organize employees and contractors to deliver ore safely and consistently to the beneficiation plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop monthly and annual operating plans, production targets, stripping requirements and resource allocations; turn plans into weekly and shift priorities.
- Coordinate drilling, blasting, loading and haulage, including working-area readiness, traffic and contractor interfaces.
- Work with Geology on ore boundaries, grade control, dilution, sampling and ore/waste segregation.
- Monitor mined tonnes, stripping, grade, equipment performance and unit mining cost; investigate deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Allocate supervisors, crews, equipment and contractors; coordinate availability and breakdown recovery with Maintenance.
- Enforce safe field procedures and environmental controls; stop unsafe work and verify incident corrective actions.
- Manage contractor scope, progress, acceptance and supporting production records.
- Coordinate with Geology, Maintenance, Transport and plant teams to balance mine output and feed needs.
- Coach supervisors, organize training and maintain effective shift handovers.
- Report production, cost, risks,



recovery actions and decisions required to site leadership.

REQUIREMENTS

- At least 5 years of relevant mining-industry experience, substantial open-pit operating experience and demonstrated responsibility for people or production.
- Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or related degree, or equivalent professional training and substantial operating experience.
- Practical knowledge of open-pit planning, stripping, drilling/blasting interfaces, loading/haulage and grade control.
- Ability to manage equipment deployment, contractors and shift teams and analyze operating and cost data using spreadsheets.
- Sound field safety judgement and knowledge of the Mexican operating environment.
- Fluent spoken and written English is required for meetings, operational reports and management communication.
- Clear Spanish communication and availability to work on site in Sonora.
- Industrial-minerals/barite and mine-planning software experience preferred.
