You Are

UST is looking for a Senior GCP Data Engineer to build and run production data pipelines, backend APIs, and cloud-native services on Google Cloud, with a focus on BigQuery, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Vertex AI. Must be comfortable taking GenAI and ML workloads into production with proper governance, and able to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

The Opportunity

- Design, build, and operate production ETL/ELT pipelines on Google Cloud using BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Dataproc, and Cloud Storage
- Develop Python services for data processing, orchestration, and backend APIs, containerized with Docker and deployed on Kubernetes (GKE)




- Write and optimize strong SQL on BigQuery and other cloud warehouses
- Take GenAI and ML workloads into production on Vertex AI, including pipelines, model deployment, and batch and online inference, with proper governance
- Build CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions or Jenkins, including automated testing and environment promotion
- Manage infrastructure as code and respond to production incidents
- Explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across teams

What You Need

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in cloud, data, or platform engineering
- Hands-on production experience with GCP data services, including BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Dataproc, and Cloud Storage
- Production-ready GenAI deployment experience with governance patterns
- Strong Python skills for data processing, orchestration, and backend services
- Strong SQL, especially on BigQuery or similar cloud warehouses
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (GKE), and production ETL/ELT pipeline design and operation
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills
- Secondary skills: Vertex AI (pipelines, model deployment, batch and online inference), CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Jenkins, infrastructure as code, and backend API development
- Preferred: MLOps (model serving,



monitoring, retraining), Spark or Beam (Dataproc, Dataflow), and Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL analytical performance tuning
- Preferred: healthcare, insurance, or other regulated data experience; observability and operational playbooks; cloud cost, performance, and resiliency optimization; advanced degree in a related field
