Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and electronically file complaints, summonses, and other legal documents in California Superior Courts across multiple counties.
• Learn and follow local court rules, filing requirements, and courthouse procedures.
• Coordinate service of process with defendants, process servers, and third-party vendors.
• Monitor filing submissions, identify rejected documents, make corrections, and promptly resubmit them.
• Troubleshoot unsuccessful service attempts and difficult-to-locate defendants.
• Obtain, organize, and file proofs of service within required deadlines.
• Monitor case deadlines and ensure all filing and service activities are completed on time.
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation in Filevine.
• Proactively identify delays and take ownership of moving cases forward. Qualifications & Skills

• Dependable availability and commitment to a long-term professional opportunity. Preferred ExperienceThe following experience will give candidates a strong advantage:
• Filing lawsuits in California Superior Courts.
• Knowledge of local court rules and filing procedures across multiple California counties.
• Experience coordinating or handling service of process.
• Familiarity with e-filing platforms such as One Legal, First Legal, File & ServeXpress, Odyssey, or similar systems.
• Experience using Filevine or other legal case management systems.
• Previous experience working with California personal injury or civil litigation law firms.
• Prior Upwork experience with strong job success scores, positive client feedback, and a consistent work history. Don't have direct California court filing experience?
