? Project Overview We are looking for an Automotive Lighting Optical Design Engineer to support the end-to-end development and optimization of advanced automotive lighting systems, including headlights, taillights, signal lamps, light guides, and cutting-edge projection technologies. In this role, you will define optical concepts, execute detailed photometric simulations, and ensure full compliance with international automotive lighting regulations. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and general clients to bring optical designs from concept to physical correlation. ? Location & Type: Mexico (Remote / Hybrid flexibility as per project requirements) | Contract Duration: 6 Months ?
Key Responsibilities
• Optical Architecture & Design: Analyze customer specifications to establish optical design criteria. Design and optimize reflectors, collimators, Fresnel lenses, light guides, and complex optical surfaces.
• Photometric Simulation: Perform advanced photometric simulations using tools such as LucidShape, SPEOS, or ASAP.
• Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Analyze simulation results and prepare technical reports/justifications demonstrating compliance with design requirements and regulatory standards.
• Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with mechanical and electronics engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of optical components into CAD assemblies (CATIA V5).
• Validation & Prototype Correlation: Support optical tolerance analysis and correlate simulation data with physical laboratory test results (photometry and goniometry).
• Project Delivery: Execute optical deliverables according to project timelines, quality standards, and milestone schedules. ✅ Mandatory Requirements
•
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Optomechatronics, Photonics, Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Domain
Experience:
Proven hands-on experience in automotive optical design (headlights, taillights, signal lights, light guides, LED/laser projection, ADB/Matrix systems).
• Simulation Tools: Advanced proficiency in photometric simulation software (LucidShape, SPEOS, or ASAP).
• CAD Integration: Strong working knowledge of CATIA V5 for optical surface creation and mechanical assembly integration.
• Regulatory Standards: Deep knowledge of international automotive lighting regulations, including ECE (Europe) and FMVSS 108 / SAE (North America).
• Testing & Lab Correlation: Experience with optical tolerance analysis, goniometry/photometry lab testing, and prototype-to-simulation correlation.
