Position Overview The Senior Back End Developer is responsible for designing and maintaining server-side systems for Mindgruve's client websites and for Sightline, Mindgruve's predictive marketing and business intelligence platform. Work is roughly balanced between development coding and cloud engineering/operations and flexes with agency demand. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain custom client websites and large-scale applications
• Maintenance scoping, estimation and development for existing clients
• Develops and maintains server-side functionality in CMS frameworks and custom applications
• Builds and maintains data pipelines and platform services including ingestion from marketing and retail media platform APIs
• Administers web servers and cloud infrastructure, including patching, uptime monitoring, CDN and WAF protection, DNS and certificates, and backup and disaster recovery
• Responds to production incidents and security findings, and documents remediation and root cause
• Reviews peers' code, owns production deployments, and participates in shared deployment and incident coverage




• Documents systems and mentors teammates so projects do not depend on a single developer EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, or other related field, or equivalent experience
• Around four to six years of back end development experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including explaining technical risk to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to deal with deadline pressures and multiple projects and changing priorities
• Knowledgeable in object oriented programming, SQL and the MVC architecture EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATIONS
• Expert in PHP and MySQL.
• Expert in Python for data pipelines, services and API integration
• Significant experience in HTML, CSS and Javascript
• Comfortable with Linux command line and managing NGINX and Apache
• Experience with CMS back-end development and plugin security (WordPress, Drupal)
• Experience with MVC (Laravel, Symfony) and Node.js backend frameworks (Express, NestJS)
• Working knowledge of version control (Git), code review and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, GraphQL and token-based authentication
• NoSQL databases and automated testing (Elasticsearch, MongoDB)
• IaaS and infrastructure as code (AWS compute, storage, networking, IAM; GCP)
• Cloud data architecture through GCP and AWS (BigQuery, Glue, Athena, Redshift)
• Experience with Magento, Shopify or headless CMS architectures
• Native Mobile App development
• Web application security, secure coding practices and secrets management
