About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly specialized Optical Network Engineer to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to the advancement of optical communication technologies from anywhere within Mexico . You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of high-capacity optical networks, playing a crucial role in expanding our client's fiber infrastructure. The adecuado candidate will possess deep expertise in optical networking principles, equipment, and troubleshooting. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of reliable and high-performance optical solutions that meet the growing demands for bandwidth. This role is perfect for an experienced engineer passionate about optical technologies and eager to make a significant impact in the telecommunications field from a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

Design and architect optical network solutions, including DWDM, CWDM, and fiber optic transport systems. Specify optical equipment and components, ensuring compatibility and performance requirements are met. Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of optical network infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to optical transmission, signal degradation, and equipment failures. Develop and maintain detailed optical network documentation, including fiber path maps and splice records. Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure timely and successful project completion. Perform network capacity planning and forecasting for optical transport resources. Stay updated on the latest advancements in optical networking technologies and standards.



Conduct site surveys for new optical deployments and upgrades. Ensure network resilience and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Optics, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in optical network engineering and design. In-depth knowledge of optical transmission technologies (e.g., DWDM, OTN, coherent optics). Experience with optical test equipment (e.g., OTDR, optical power meters). Familiarity with optical network elements from vendors like Ciena, Nokia, Cisco, or Infinera. Strong understanding of fiber optic physical layer principles and cable management. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with network planning and simulation tools is a plus. Knowledge of related IP networking concepts is beneficial.
