About the Role

This role is central to identifying, testing, and implementing new crop varieties and advanced cultivation techniques to enhance productivity, quality, and resilience for diverse agricultural markets. The manager will lead a dedicated team of researchers and agronomists, overseeing field trials, genetic evaluations, and adaptation studies. A deep understanding of plant breeding, agronomy, agricultural economics, and market trends is essential. Key Responsibilities

- Lead the identification, evaluation, and selection of new crop varieties with improved traits (yield, disease resistance, nutritional value, environmental adaptability).
- Design and manage comprehensive field trials across different locations and conditions.
- Oversee the genetic improvement and breeding programs for key crops.
- Analyze trial data and performance metrics to determine the commercial viability of new varieties.
- Collaborate with seed companies, research institutions, and growers to facilitate the adoption of new varieties.
- Develop and refine optimal cultivation practices for newly introduced crop varieties.
- Manage the budget and resources for the crop development and new varieties department.
- Lead, mentor,



and develop a team of scientists, agronomists, and technicians.
- Stay abreast of global trends in crop genetics, agricultural technology, and market demands.
- Ensure compliance with regulations related to genetic resources and crop introductions.

Requirements

- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Plant Breeding, Agronomy, Genetics, Horticulture, or a related agricultural science field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in crop development, plant breeding, or variety testing, preferably in a commercial agriculture setting.
- Proven experience in designing and managing field trials and interpreting complex data.
- Strong knowledge of genetics, statistics, and experimental design.
- Experience with various crops relevant to the agricultural landscape of **Toluca** and Mexico.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
