The Role
We are seeking a Construction Accounting Manager to own project and job cost accounting at a US construction company, working remotely from Mexico.
You will lead the area's people and its day-to-day results, reporting to the Controller or VP of Finance, while staying hands-on whenever the close or an audit needs it.
What You'll Own
Job costing.
Maintain job cost ledgers, commitments, and change orders by project.
WIP schedule.
Prepare the monthly WIP schedule and over/under billings.
Contract revenue.
Recognize revenue over time on contracts using cost-to-cost progress.
Billing and retainage.
Prepare AIA progress billings and track retainage receivable and payable.
Project reviews.
Lead monthly project reviews with project managers on cost to complete.
The team.




Lead, review, and develop a team of accountants, setting clear standards for quality and timeliness.
Controls.
Design and maintain the controls and approval workflows for your area, and fix gaps before an auditor finds them.
What We're Looking For
8+ years of accounting experience
Experience leading accountants and owning the review of their work
Experience with job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and contract revenue
US GAAP experience, or strong NIF (Mexico) or IFRS experience with exposure to US clients or entities
Experience with Procore, Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, or Foundation
Strong written and spoken English for daily work with US teams
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent professional qualification
Preferred
Contador Público Certificado (CPC), US CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (completed or in progress)
Experience with AIA billing, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance
Experience using AI tools in accounting workflows, with the judgment to review and correct AI-generated output

Work Arrangement
This is a fully remote role with a single client company for the duration of the engagement. Full-time roles require a minimum of 4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET); part-time roles require a minimum of 2 hours.
