About the Role

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company at the forefront of medical innovation, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Medicinal Chemist to join their esteemed research team. The primary focus of this role is the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel small molecules for therapeutic applications. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of biologists, pharmacologists, and DMPK scientists to advance drug candidates through the discovery pipeline. We are looking for an individual with a proven track record in medicinal chemistry, a deep understanding of structure-activity relationships (SAR), and a passion for drug discovery. Key Responsibilities

- Design and synthesize novel small molecules with desired pharmacological profiles, employing modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques.
- Optimize lead compounds to improve potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetic properties, and safety.
- Interpret SAR data and guide the design of next-generation compounds in collaboration with biology and DMPK teams.
- Develop and troubleshoot synthetic routes for target molecules, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Utilize computational chemistry tools and databases to aid in molecular design and virtual screening.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using analytical techniques such as NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC.
- Prepare detailed reports, contribute to scientific publications,



and present findings at internal and external meetings.
- Stay current with the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
- Mentor junior chemists and foster a collaborative and innovative research environment.

Requirements

- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
- A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in medicinal chemistry, focused on small molecule drug discovery.
- Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, including asymmetric synthesis and modern reaction methodologies.
- Strong understanding of SAR, ADMET properties, and drug design principles.
- Experience with structure-based drug design (SBDD) and/or fragment-based drug discovery (FBDD) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques for compound characterization.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to chemical synthesis challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced research environment.
- Experience with electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) and chemical inventory systems.
