About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Payroll Accountant to join their finance team on a fully remote basis, supporting their workforce across Mexico, including Querétaro City, Querétaro, MX. This critical role is responsible for overseeing the entire payroll process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all labor laws and tax regulations. The idóneo candidate will possess extensive experience in payroll management, a strong understanding of Mexican labor and tax legislation, and excellent attention to detail. As a remote-first position, you will have the flexibility to work from home while collaborating with HR, finance, and external payroll providers.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and execute the end-to-end payroll process for all employees.
- Ensure accurate calculation of salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions.
- Oversee compliance with Mexican labor laws (e.g., IMSS, INFONAVIT, ISR withholding).
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns and other required government reports.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure the accuracy of general ledger entries related to payroll.
- Maintain up-to-date employee payroll records.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and update processes accordingly.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure new hires and terminations are processed correctly.




- Implement and maintain internal controls for payroll processes.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll accounting and administration.
- In-depth knowledge of Mexican payroll laws, regulations, and tax requirements.
- Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines in a remote environment.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Experience working with third-party payroll providers is a plus.
