About the Role

Our client, a major construction and development company with significant operations in Mérida, Yucatán , is seeking an experienced Gerente de Suministros y Compras . This vital role will oversee all procurement activities for construction materials, equipment, and services, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness. The adecuado candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain management within the construction industry, and a strategic approach to sourcing. You will play a key role in optimizing procurement processes and managing supplier relationships to support the successful execution of projects in Mérida and the surrounding region.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement procurement strategies for construction materials, equipment, and services in Mérida, Yucatán.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, negotiation, tendering, and contract award.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and reliable delivery.
- Oversee inventory management and logistics to ensure materials are available when needed on project sites.
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential cost savings and new sourcing opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements in all procurement activities.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers,



and finance teams to understand project needs and budgetary constraints.
- Manage procurement budgets and track expenditures against project financial plans.
- Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement plans as necessary for projects in the Yucatán peninsula.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a significant focus on the construction industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing procurement for construction projects in the Mérida region or similar environments.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Fluent in Spanish; knowledge of English is a significant advantage.
- Ability to manage complex logistics and work effectively under pressure.
