About the Role

Our client, a prestigious engineering consultancy, is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer with expertise in seismic design to join their expanding team in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca . This role is essential for designing and analyzing the structural integrity of various buildings, ensuring they meet rigorous safety and performance standards, especially in a seismically active zone. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of projects, from residential and commercial buildings to cultural heritage sites. Key Responsibilities

- Perform structural analysis and design for new construction projects and retrofitting of existing structures.
- Develop detailed structural drawings and specifications using industry-standard software.
- Conduct seismic evaluations and design structures to meet or exceed applicable seismic codes and standards.
- Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines to integrate structural systems into overall building designs.
- Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors to ensure compliance with design intent.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and verify structural work quality.
- Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies,



and design documentation.
- Stay current with advancements in structural engineering, seismic design, and building materials.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and clients.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations in Oaxaca .

Requirements

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering design.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro) and CAD software.
- Expertise in seismic design principles and relevant building codes (e.g., ASCE 7, local Mexican codes).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience with retrofitting and seismic strengthening of existing buildings is a significant advantage.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Mexico.
