Shortcut is a digital product design and engineering studio based in Latin America. For over a decade, our team has designed and shipped production software for founders and product leaders across fintech, mobility, commerce, and AI.
In this role, you will own the visual craft of a project from initial concept to launch. You will establish new visual directions or evolve existing brand languages, turning ambiguous problem spaces into clear proposals and production-ready interfaces. We trust you to sweat the typographic, spatial, and motion details while keeping the broader product architecture coherent. You will present your work directly to client founders, articulate the rationale behind your decisions, and partner with frontend engineers through handoff and visual QA until the product ships. While you will collaborate closely with a project lead, you will manage your own schedule and drive your craft with high autonomy.
What You Will Do
- Design web and mobile product interfaces, building new design systems from the ground up or pushing existing UI kits and brand guidelines further.
- Translate brand identities into functional product surfaces with clear hierarchy, rhythm, and visual character.
- Build high-fidelity interactive prototypes in Figma, Framer, or AI-assisted tools to test how flows feel before engineering begins.
- Define micro-interactions, state transitions, and motion details that make the final software feel responsive and alive.
- Create custom visual assets for your interfaces using a mix of traditional design tools and AI workflows.
- Build and ship live marketing sites or product views directly from Figma into Framer or Webflow.
- Present design work to clients and pair with frontend engineers during implementation to ensure production fidelity.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on experience designing digital products at a design studio or product company, backed by a strong portfolio you can walk through with confidence.
- Command of core visual design principles (typography, hierarchy, balance, contrast, and layout) applied to data-dense interfaces and multi-step flows.
- Deep practical knowledge of how modern component libraries and design tokens are built, documented, and maintained in Figma.
- Fluency in Figma and Framer, alongside practical experience using AI tools to accelerate exploration and asset production.
- Clear communication and storytelling skills; you can explain your design decisions and navigate client feedback with grace.
- Native Spanish and professional working proficiency in English, with working hours that overlap with Mexico City (GMT-6).
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of motion and 3D tools such as After Effects, Rive, Spline, or Blender to bring custom interactive moments to life.
- Track record of shipping production websites in Framer or Webflow with strong attention to responsive layout and performance.
- Comfort operating in early-stage ambiguity, turning loose ideas into structured directions before a spec is fully written.
- Genuine enthusiasm for software craft, contemporary visual culture, and emerging creative technology.
Your portfolio is the most important part of your application. We look for real, shipped products and live websites rather than hypothetical concepts. A small selection of three or four well-resolved projects is much stronger than a large archive. Be ready to share what you owned and how your work made the final product better.
How we work at Shortcut
We don't believe in billable hours. We design and build digital products end-to-end for clients across North America and Latin America. You collaborate directly with founders and product leaders, without bureaucracy or middle management.
We prioritize high autonomy, rigorous visual standards, clear asynchronous communication, and shipping production interfaces with uncompromising craft. Our founding team reviews every application directly on a rolling basis.
