About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Electrical Systems Protection Engineer to join their team in Mexicali, Baja California . This non-remote position involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of protection systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the electrical grid by applying advanced protection schemes and analyzing system disturbances. The adecuado candidate possesses a strong theoretical understanding of power system dynamics and practical experience with protection relays and coordination studies. You will play a vital role in safeguarding our electrical infrastructure against faults and ensuring rapid fault clearing to minimize damage and service interruption. Key Responsibilities

Design, set, and commission protection relays and schemes for various power system applications.

Perform protective device coordination studies to ensure selective fault clearing.

Analyze system disturbances and post-fault reports to identify protection issues.

Develop and maintain protection system documentation, including settings files and logic diagrams.

Conduct technical evaluations of new protection equipment and technologies.

Collaborate with system operators, field personnel, and engineering staff.





Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for power system protection.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for protection system-related issues.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in power system protection engineering.

Strong knowledge of power system fundamentals, fault analysis, and symmetrical components.

Proficiency with protection relay settings software (e.g., EnerVista, TrustSet) and simulation tools.

Experience with different types of protection relays (e.g., overcurrent, differential, distance).

Understanding of substation design and equipment.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to work independently and manage project tasks effectively.
