Role Description The Software Engineering Fellowship — LUNARTECH — Mexico is a part-time, remote opportunity designed to give fellows hands-on experience with real AI and software systems. Day-to-day, fellows collaborate with engineering teams to design, implement, and test software components that support AI-native applications and data-intensive products.

Responsibilities may include writing and reviewing code, working with databases, configuring Linux-based environments, and contributing to backend services in Java or other languages. Fellows will participate in code reviews,



technical discussions, and documentation to ensure reliable, maintainable, and secure systems. The fellowship also includes structured mentorship, performance-based feedback, and exposure to modern engineering practices used in production-grade AI systems.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one object-oriented or functional language.
- Candidates should possess practical experience with Databases, including designing schemas, writing queries, and integrating data layers into applications.
- Candidates should possess hands-on familiarity with Linux, including basic system administration, scripting, and working in terminal-based development environments.
- Candidates should possess working knowledge of Java, including building, testing, and debugging applications or services.
- Understanding of core computer science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and networking fundamentals.
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently in a remote setting, and collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
- Relevant academic background (e.g., computer science, software engineering, or related field) or equivalent practical experience; prior exposure to AI, data science, or cloud technologies is a plus.
