Plant Controller

Job Level: Senior Manager

Location: Montemorelos Nuevo León, México

Position Summary

Manage, control, and oversee the financial, accounting, and administrative resources of the processing plants located in Mexico, ensuring operational profitability through cost control, proper inventory valuation, compliance with internal controls and operating procedures, and the generation of reliable financial information for decision-making.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Ten or more years of experience in financial control or industrial plant controllership.
- Experience in the food, agriculture, or fruit processing industries.
- Hands on experience in industrial costing, inventory management, and budgeting.
- Experience preparing and presenting Financial Results to Executive Leadership Team
- Bilingual Spanish / English

Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or an MBA preferred.
- Annual budget attainment.
- Inventory accuracy (percentage variance).
- Actual-to-standard cost variance.
- Waste and scrap levels.
- Cost-saving opportunities identified and implemented.
- Plant operating profitability
- Experience with SAGE and Blackline

Key Responsibilities

- Subject matter expert for all finance and accounting related activities for Mexico operations.
- Timely and accurate submission of monthly financial results and related accounting schedules for Corporate consolidation, in compliance with US GAAP.




- Ensure all month-end accounting activities are executed in accordance with standard operating procedures and internal controls.
- Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled timely, are auditable, and in compliance with management expectations.
- Request investigations into inventory discrepancies and product cost variances, provide support to affiliates for visibility into cost of affiliate sales.
- Responsible for the preparation and submission of the Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecast.
- Provide monthly variance explanations on actual results of operations vs Budget and Forecast.
- Provide for compliance with all local Statutory financial and Corporate Tax reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Tax team on all tax-related matters.
- Monitor, report on, and approve operating expenses within the limits established by the company.
- Collaborate with Corporate Treasury to provide periodic Cash Flow forecast and support for periodic funding requests.
- Support foreign currency hedging initiatives to limit foreign currency exposure.
- Implement internal controls related to financial and operational processes.
- Support plant leadership with finance related initiatives and requests.




- Recommend corrective actions to improve plant profitability.
- Drive automation and efficiency across all finance processes to maintain the financial close process to the minimum and comply with corporate submission deadlines.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Mentor and develop Finance team members.
