About the Role

Our client, a vital non-profit organization dedicated to serving vulnerable populations, is seeking a compassionate and resilient Trabajador Social de Calle (Outreach Specialist). This role is crucial for connecting with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use challenges, and other critical social issues within Tijuana, Baja California, MX . As an on-site position, you will be actively engaged in the community, building trust and providing immediate support to those most in need. The adecuado candidate is empathetic, resourceful, and possesses strong street-level engagement skills. You will be responsible for identifying individuals requiring assistance, offering crisis intervention, connecting them to essential services such as shelter, healthcare, and counseling, and advocating for their needs. This role demands courage, dedication, and a deep commitment to social justice and human dignity, working directly within the urban landscape to offer a lifeline of hope and support.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct regular outreach in designated areas to identify and engage with individuals experiencing homelessness or other critical vulnerabilities.
- Build rapport and establish trusting relationships with clients.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention, emotional support, and basic needs assistance (e.g., food, water, hygiene kits).
- Assess client needs and connect them to appropriate social services, healthcare providers, and housing resources.
- Assist clients with the application process for benefits and services.
- Document all client interactions, assessments, and service referrals accurately and confidentially.
- Collaborate with partner agencies, law enforcement,



and community stakeholders to coordinate support efforts.
- Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the service system and community.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and case conferences.

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- certification or degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in street outreach, social work, or case management, preferably with populations experiencing homelessness or substance use issues.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and engage effectively with diverse and marginalized populations.
- Strong knowledge of local social services, healthcare resources, and support systems in Tijuana .
- Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations.
- Physical ability to conduct extensive walking and work in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in Spanish; basic English is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred.
