About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural research and development company located in Mérida, Yucatán , is seeking a dedicated Biologist Researcher specializing in Agricultural Biotechnology. Key Responsibilities

- Conduct research in plant molecular biology, genetics, and breeding using biotechnological techniques.
- Develop and optimize protocols for genetic modification, gene editing (e.g., CRISPR), and marker-assisted selection.
- Perform laboratory analyses, including DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, and tissue culture.
- Design and manage field trials to evaluate the performance of new plant varieties.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive research reports.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, agronomists, and technicians.
- Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in agricultural biotechnology.
- Contribute to the intellectual property development, including patent applications.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations and ethical research practices.




- Present research findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.

Requirements

- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Plant Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Proven research experience in agricultural biotechnology, molecular biology, or plant genetics.
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing).
- Familiarity with genetic engineering tools (e.g., Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, gene gun) and/or gene editing technologies (CRISPR/Cas9).
- Experience in experimental design, data analysis (statistical software like R or SAS), and interpretation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team environment, with hybrid work flexibility.
- Knowledge of plant physiology and crop science is highly desirable.
- Experience working with relevant crops in tropical or subtropical climates is a plus.
