(10 WEEKS PROJECT, THERE'S A CHANCE TO EXPAND IT)
The Opportunity
We are looking for a true Senior SDET who goes beyond traditional UI automation. At Amalga, we need a technical quality partner capable of working in a full-stack QA capacity. You won't just be executing pre-defined test cases; you will act autonomously to design testing strategies, architect frameworks from scratch, and dive deep into backend processes, APIs, and data migrations.
Who Youll Be Working With:
You will work closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Architects, DevOps, and QA/QE professionals. You will serve as the technical quality partnerparticipating in discovery, solution design, and release activities to identify risks early and build quality into the product, rather than just testing it at the end.
What You'll Be Doing
Architect Scalable Solutions from Scratch: Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks using Playwright (with TypeScript or Python) from a blank repository.
Full-Stack Automation: Shift the focus away from fragile UI testing. Build the appropriate balance of API, integration, component, contract, data, and E2E automation.
Backend & Data Integrity: Validate RESTful services, backend workflows, database integrity (using SQL), and participate in complex data migrations across integrated systems.
CI/CD Integration: Integrate tests into pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure, etc.) establishing automated quality gates, parallelization, and failure diagnostics.
Autonomous Quality Engineering: Independently identify quality risks, define testing strategies, and investigate failures using application logs, network traces, and telemetry.
Shift-Left Quality: Participate in technical design and architecture discussions to identify edge cases, dependencies, and testability concerns before development is complete.
Modern Tooling: Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate test design, debugging, and analysis while maintaining high engineering standards.
What Youll Need to Be Successful (Requirements)
5+ years of experience in an SDET, Software/Quality Engineer, or Test Automation role.
Strong coding skills: Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python. You must be able to design maintainable software, not just record-and-playback test scripts.
Playwright Mastery: Deep, hands-on experience building Playwright frameworks from scratch.
Backend & API Expertise: Proven experience automating backend processes and validating REST APIs, JSON payloads, and service integrations without launching a browser.
Testing Architecture: Strong understanding of the testing pyramid (unit, component, API, integration, E2E) and when to use each approach.
CI/CD & Git: Strong working knowledge of Git, branching strategies, and integrating automated tests into continuous delivery pipelines.
Autonomy & Communication: Ability to take ambiguous requirements, independently identify failure scenarios, and constructively influence engineering decisions.
What Will Make You Stand Out
Data Migration Experience: Proven ability to use code and automation tools to ensure data integrity during system migrations.
Framework Architecture: You know exactly how to structure a scalable project (e.g., *, Fixtures, environment variables) from day one.
