About the Role

Our client, a prominent agricultural producer in the Tlaquepaque, Jalisco region, is seeking an experienced Agricultural Operations Manager with a strong focus on horticulture. This critical role involves overseeing all aspects of our horticultural operations, from cultivation and irrigation to pest management and harvesting, ensuring maximum efficiency and profitability. You will lead a dedicated team, implement innovative farming techniques, and manage resources effectively to maintain our high standards of quality and production. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to manage significant agricultural operations in one of Mexico's key agricultural hubs.

Key Responsibilities

- Direct and manage all daily horticultural operations, including planting, cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, and pest/disease control.
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans to achieve production targets and quality standards.
- Oversee crop planning, rotation, and selection to optimize yield and marketability.
- Manage a team of farm workers and supervisors, providing training, motivation, and performance evaluation.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and labor laws.
- Monitor and control operational costs, managing budgets effectively and seeking opportunities for cost savings.
- Implement and maintain quality control systems throughout the production process.




- Manage relationships with suppliers of agricultural inputs and services.
- Utilize farm management software and technology to track progress, analyze data, and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align production with market demand.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in agricultural management, with a significant focus on horticultural crops.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale farming operations and leading teams.
- Strong knowledge of horticultural best practices, including greenhouse management if applicable.
- Expertise in crop nutrition, pest and disease management, and irrigation techniques.
- Familiarity with farm management software, data analysis, and financial planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Tlaquepaque, Jalisco
