About the Role

Our client, a leading agricultural producer in Tijuana, Baja California , is seeking an experienced Specialist in Irrigation Systems and Water Resource Management. This pivotal role will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing water usage strategies across our farming operations to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and crop health. The idóneo candidate will possess a strong understanding of modern irrigation technologies, water conservation techniques, and hydrological principles relevant to agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions. This position offers a chance to make a significant impact on resource management in a key agricultural area of Mexico.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, install, and maintain advanced irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, subsurface) tailored to crop needs and soil types.
- Monitor water usage, soil moisture levels, and weather data to optimize irrigation schedules.
- Develop and implement water conservation strategies to reduce consumption and improve efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections of irrigation infrastructure to identify and address potential issues.
- Manage pump systems, filters, and control panels, ensuring optimal performance.
- Analyze water quality and its impact on crops and soil, recommending treatments if necessary.
- Train farm personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in agricultural water management.




- Collaborate with agronomists and farm managers to align water strategies with overall crop production goals.
- Prepare reports on water usage, system performance, and recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

- University degree in Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in designing, managing, and maintaining agricultural irrigation systems.
- In-depth knowledge of various irrigation technologies and water management principles.
- Experience with water conservation techniques and technologies.
- Proficiency in using irrigation scheduling software, sensors, and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a hybrid team, with occasional site visits.
- Knowledge of local water regulations and environmental standards in Baja California is a plus.
