About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm, is seeking a specialized Asesor Legal de Protección de Datos (Remoto) to establish and lead their data privacy legal function. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from any location in Mexico. The role involves developing and implementing robust data privacy policies and procedures in line with Mexican and international data protection regulations (e.g., LFPDPPP, GDPR). You will be the go-to expert for all privacy-related legal matters, ensuring the company's compliance and mitigating risks associated with personal data processing. This remote-first opportunity is perfect for an independent and knowledgeable legal professional.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's integral data privacy compliance program.
- Advise on all aspects of data privacy law, including data collection, processing, storage, transfer, and deletion.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and privacy reviews for new products and services.
- Draft and update privacy notices, consent forms, and data processing agreements.
- Manage data subject access requests and respond to inquiries from data protection authorities.
- Provide training and awareness programs to employees on data privacy best practices.
- Monitor changes in data protection laws and regulations worldwide and advise on necessary adjustments.
- Investigate and manage data breaches,



coordinating response efforts and regulatory notifications.

Requirements

- Law degree (Licenciatura en Derecho) from a recognized institution.
- Advanced degree or specialization in Data Privacy Law, Technology Law, or related field is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience focusing on data privacy and protection, preferably within a technology or multinational company.
- In-depth knowledge of the Mexican Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP) and its regulations.
- Familiarity with international data protection frameworks such as GDPR is a significant advantage.
- Proven experience in developing privacy policies, conducting DPIAs, and managing data subject rights.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage complex projects in a remote work environment.
- Strong ethical standards and meticulous attention to detail.
