WebCreek is looking for a Senior Video Systems & AI Developer to drive the development of a mission-critical video management and AI-powered video analytics platform. The idóneo candidate has extensive hands-on experience with video management systems (VMS), real-time video processing, computer vision, and vision-language models (VLMs). This role involves developing scalable solutions for camera integration, video recording, storage, playback, and intelligent video analytics, while providing technical guidance to an in-house developer. This position is well suited for a senior developer who combines strong software development expertise with technical leadership, enjoys solving complex video processing challenges, and can take ownership of architectural decisions and production-ready solutions.

What You'll Do
- Lead the technical development of video management and AI-powered analytics capabilities, providing architectural guidance and mentoring an in-house engineer.
- Design, develop, and maintain video management services supporting camera ingestion, recording, storage, playback, and live streaming.
- Build and optimize video processing pipelines using GStreamer, FFmpeg, and protocols such as RTSP/RTP and ONVIF.
- Develop solutions supporting H.264/H.265 and MJPEG video formats across multiple camera types and integrations.
- Design scalable video storage architectures, including continuous and event-based recording, retention policies, and object storage using Azure Blob Storage or Amazon S3.
- Implement browser-based video delivery supporting multiple concurrent camera feeds using technologies such as WebCodecs, Media Source Extensions (MSE), and WebRTC.
- Develop and integrate computer vision capabilities, including object detection, tracking, and GPU-accelerated inference.
- Integrate vision-language models (VLMs) and large language models (LLMs) into video analytics workflows, including tool calling, structured outputs, and model evaluation.
- Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js, GraphQL, MySQL, Redis, and message-driven technologies such as MQTT.
- Contribute to frontend development using Vue 3 or React to support video management and operator-facing interfaces.
- Design and troubleshoot containerized services using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Write technical design documents, make architectural decisions, review code, and guide engineering implementation.
- Develop automated unit and end-to-end tests, maintain CI workflows using GitHub Actions, and follow disciplined Git and pull-request practices.
- Use AI coding agents to support development efficiency while carefully reviewing and validating generated code.
- Collaborate with Engineering and product stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable video solutions. What You Bring:
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, including experience delivering and supporting at least one production software product.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building video management systems (VMS), network video recorders (NVR), or video analytics products in production.
- Strong experience with video streaming protocols and standards, including RTSP/RTP, ONVIF Profile S, H.264/H.265, and MJPEG.
- Production experience developing video processing pipelines using GStreamer or FFmpeg.
- Strong programming experience with Rust, C++, or Go, with Rust preferred for media services.
- Experience designing scalable video recording and storage solutions, including continuous/event recording, retention policies, and cloud object storage.
- Knowledge of browser-based video streaming technologies such as WebCodecs, MSE, and WebRTC.
- Hands-on experience with computer vision, object detection, tracking, and GPU inference using ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with vision-language models and LLMs, including tool calling, structured outputs, local open models such as Qwen-VL, hosted APIs, and evaluation datasets.
- Strong backend development experience with Node.js and GraphQL APIs; TypeScript is a plus.
- Working proficiency with Vue 3 or React.
- Experience with MySQL, Redis, and message-driven or publish/subscribe systems such as MQTT.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and troubleshooting services in containerized environments.
- Strong Linux and networking fundamentals, including TCP/UDP, TLS, WebSockets, and packet capture analysis.
- Experience writing automated unit and end-to-end tests and working with GitHub Actions, Git, and pull-request workflows.
- Experience using AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, as part of daily development work, with the ability to review and correct generated code.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small engineering team or technical workstream, make architectural decisions, and mentor developers.
- Strong problem-solving skills, technical ownership, and the ability to independently deliver solutions from de
