The Cash Application Manager is a full-time opportunity with the Enterprise Financial Services (EFS) team. This position is responsible for the management of cash application, cash application team members, balancing multiple ERPs, reconciling bank accounts, creating training opportunities to maximize employee development, and partnering with 3rd party cash application service providers to remove obstacles for automated cash application success.

Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITY 1: CASH APPLICATION MANAGEMENT

- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments through 3rd Party payment providers.
- Provide direct support for the 3rd Party daily payment processing; assist with questions and record any potential defects or change requests
- Maintain customers’ mapping/cross reference information using the tools provided in the 3rd Party payment processor
- Resolve payments suspended in the 3rd Party payment system.
- Conduct appropriate research to process payments held in suspense within the 3rd party payment system
- Oversee, correct, and submit any payments which are “held” and in the “Payment Errors” report
- Create and maintain electronic records of all large/complex chargebacks according to established policies and procedures.
- Identify and properly code deductions/overpayments
- Ensure best practices are executed by team members to provide efficient and effective management of cash application objectives.
- Proactively communicate with internal and external customers and AR Management on issues impacting business opportunities. CORE RESPONSIBILITY 2: CUSTOMER SERVICE

- Improve cash application accuracy through effective communication with internal team(s), external customers, and stores, facilities, branches.
- Maintain direct customer contact to resolve discrepancies or disputes on material customers.
- Provide Sherwin personnel and customers research assistance when needed.
- Assist customers experiencing potential fraud claims and report to loss prevention when required CORE RESPONSIBILITY 3: TALENT DEVELOPMENT

- Ensure employees are provided with the appropriate training and assist in the achievement of individual developmental plans.
- Recruit, hire, train, retain, and mentor cash application employees. CORE RESPONSIBILITY 4: CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

- Create a culture of continuous improvement within the cash application teams.
- Assist in the identification and strategic solutioning of process inefficiencies related to cash application.
- Collaborate and partner with key leaders and internal stakeholders in realizing scaling opportunities through process efficiencies and automation.
- Maintain a knowledge base of trends, management techniques,



and KPI metrics to improve levels of service and cash application performance.
- Monitor and report process defects for potential improvements in the complete payment process

CORE RESPONSIBILITY 5: CASH APPLICATION CONTROLS AND COMPLIANCE

- Maintain consistent adherence to policies and procedures as established.
- Ensure cash application controls are performed and operating effectively.
- Verify AR balances are properly stated for the area of responsibility according to existing policies through cash application accuracy.
- Ensure the cash application organization operates within all applicable laws and regulations within the area of responsibility.
- Timely respond to internal and external cash application audit inquiries as required.

CORE RESPONSIBILITY 6: MANAGEMENT OF BUSINESS SERVICES

- Develop, maintain, and staff an effective organization to achieve cash application objectives and Customer Service Metrics.
- Maintain a current knowledge base of trends, management techniques and metrics to improve Customer Service levels in a shared service organizational structure.
- Maintain system solutions to enhance external customers’ experience including but not limited to self-service portals and electronic B2B communication.
- Distribute workloads; capitalize on employee strengths; and provide employee stretch opportunities while maintaining optimal Customer Levels and cash application results as measured through KPIs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

FORMAL EDUCATION

Required

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience

Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

KNOWLEDGE &

EXPERIENCE:

Required

- 2+ yrs Management experience
- 2+ yrs experience in finance, accounting, or sales.
- Operational analysis and business communications

Preferred:
- Sherwin-Williams’ store, facility, or branch experience.
- Experience in Accounts Receivable.

Preferred:
- 2+ years Management experience.
- SW store, facility, or branch experience.
- Implementation of or experience with AR technology solutions.
- Implementation of change management programs.

- Ability to communicate, verbally and written, ideas and decisions to a diverse stakeholder group in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
- Building and maintaining various types of financial models to aid, monitor and analyze business performance.
- Ability to understand, interpret, identify trends, and communicate financial data into meaningful insights.
- The ability to compare and reconcile financial records from multiple sources, and analyze the data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including but not limited to, Excel and Word.

Preferred:
- Ability to create financial models leveraging key drivers of financial performance, including the use of historical data to forecast future outcomes.
- Ability to motivate, coach, mentor, and sponsor others to accelerate career growth and development.
- Proficiency in US GAAP accounting principles such as revenue recognition, accrual accounting, and inventory valuation.
- Knowledge of current financial and cross-functional platforms to gain insights and drive innovation through scalable efficiencies.
