Job Description
• Build a highly scalable, cloud-based GraphQL API layer to deliver sports data across multiple digital platforms.
• Design and migrate existing data models to a federated GraphQL architecture within the CBS Sports digital ecosystem.
• Develop foundational capabilities using domain-driven design (DDD) and test-driven development (TDD).
• Optimize core sports GraphQL subgraphs and services in a federated architecture.
• Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, grooming, and sprint planning.
• Implement DevOps best practices, including writing tests, continuous deployment, observability, and monitoring.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on teammates' designs and code.
• Collaborate with product partners to develop technical solutions leveraging GraphQL for seamless data integration.
• Build a core data layer that ingests, processes, and stores data from hundreds of sources across various transports and data stores.
• Define distributed tracing and observability systems within the GraphQL ecosystem.
• Utilize GraphQL technologies such as WunderGraph Cosmo or Apollo.
• Work extensively with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.
• Manage relational, NoSQL, and key-value data stores, including MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Operate in distributed,



cloud-based environments handling high transaction volumes.
• Apply modern build strategies, including CI/CD pipelines, unit and integration testing, GitOps, and issue-tracking tools such as Jira.
• Design solutions with risk evaluation, technical feasibility, and accurate estimations.
• Maintain strong knowledge of sports data integration and digital media environments. Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of GraphQL schemas and federated subgraphs to enhance data retrieval and performance.
• Mentor and guide team members in adopting best practices for GraphQL development and cloud-based data engineering.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and architecture teams to align on data integration strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement in development workflows, including testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Conduct technical reviews and lead deep-dive sessions on GraphQL and related technologies.
• Ensure robust observability and tracing mechanisms for web services within the GraphQL ecosystem.
• Support product teams by translating feature requirements into scalable GraphQL solutions.
• Stay current with emerging GraphQL tools, cloud services, and data engineering trends to innovate within the team.
