The IT Quality Group Manager – E2E / UAT Tech Testing Lead is a strategic and hands-on technology leadership role accountable for driving end-to-end (E2E) quality engineering strategy, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) governance, and flawless production rollouts across critical multi-franchise platforms. This leader will serve as the chief architect of the Mexico Quality Engineering (QE) modernization journey—transitioning from legacy, high-touch, manual-heavy testing approaches toward a continuous, shift-left, automation-first, and AI-augmented testing operating model. The role combines strategic vision, technical depth, operational excellence, and comprehensive people and budgetary management. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional, multi-regional test engineering teams, partnering closely with Application Development, Architecture, Product Management, Business Operations, and Risk & Control organizations to enhance speed-to-market, defect containment, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Quality Engineering & Transformation
- Operating Model Modernization: Spearhead the transformation of E2E and UAT functions from reactive, manual testing into an automated, shift-left, and continuous quality ecosystem powered by modern test harnesses and AI-augmented testing capabilities.
- Testing Architecture & Standards: Define enterprise testing strategies, test design standards, and automation frameworks across complex multi-tier distributed architectures, microservices, and legacy core banking platforms.
- ROI & Value Realization: Model and track the Total Cost of Quality (CoQ), establishing quantifiable Return on Investment (ROI) metrics for test automation, cycle-time reduction, and defect prevention initiatives.
2. E2E & UAT Execution & Release Governance
- Cross-Franchise Testing Leadership: Oversee comprehensive test planning, environment orchestration, data readiness, and test execution for large-scale, cross-franchise programs, regulatory initiatives, and client-facing digital releases.
- Shift-Left Collaboration: Partner closely with Technology Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Business Stakeholders to align functional acceptance criteria early in the lifecycle and establish robust UAT sign-off gates.
- Non-Functional & Integration Alignment: Integrate functional E2E tests with performance, resilience, security, and synthetic monitoring validations prior to production deployment.
3. Technical Mastery & Automation Enablement
- Framework & Tooling Leadership: Engage credibly at the architectural and code level on test frameworks (UI, API, Data, Mobile), CI/CD integration, service virtualization, and Test Data Management (TDM) tools.
- Risk-Based Automation Prioritization: Apply risk-based, data-driven prioritization models to identify high-value test automation candidates across complex integration flows.
- Defect Prevention & Observability: Drive systemic root-cause analysis (RCA) and leverage structured logs, telemetry, and observability dashboards to catch defects early and prevent recurrence.
4. Organization, People Leadership & Budget Management
- Talent Acquisition & Development: Recruit, build, inspire, and retain high-performing, diverse general quality engineering teams across multiple delivery hubs.
- Full Managerial Accountability: Lead performance management, compensation planning, talent reviews, coaching, career progression, and succession planning.
- Capacity & Budget Oversight: Manage team capacity, resource allocation across projects, vendor partner engagements, infrastructure budgets, and budget-to-actuals change control.
5. Metrics, Reporting & Executive Stakeholder Engagement
- Quality Telemetry: Own and deliver executive-level quality dashboards and KPIs (, automation coverage %, in-sprint automation index, defect containment ratio, mean time to detect/resolve, and release cycle duration).
- Executive Communication: Translate complex quality and release risks into actionable business insights for senior technology executives, franchise business leaders, and governance boards.
6. Risk, Compliance & Control Governance
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and mitigate operational, architectural, and delivery risks, demonstrating unwavering commitment to protecting the firm’s reputation, client data, and assets.
- Regulatory & Audit Readiness: Ensure all testing artifacts, approvals, sign-offs, and audit trails strictly comply with internal technology standards, information security policies, and regulatory mandates.
Qualifications:
Experience & Domain Expertise
- Overall Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in Software Quality Engineering, Software Engineering, or Testing, with at least 10+ years in senior leadership/people management roles over globally distributed teams.
- Industry Background: Deep domain knowledge in Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth Management and other Financial Services, with proven exposure to core banking workflows, payment systems, trading platforms and regulatory reporting.
- Global Delivery Scope: Proven track record leading multi-regional E2E/UAT testing organizations and managing matrixed stakeholder relationships across time zones and business lines.
Leadership & Management Capabilities
- Change Leadership: Demonstrated track record as a transformation catalyst who has successfully modernized legacy testing teams, overcame organizational inertia, and built consensus for engineering investments.
- Talent Stewardship: Proven experience in building high-performing engineering cultures, upskilling functional testers to SDETs/QE engineers, and establishing clear accountability structures.
- Financial & Vendor Acumen: Extensive experience with resource modeling, Capex/Opex budget management, and managing strategic vendor/system integrator relationships.
Technical & Tooling Proficiency
- Automation Frameworks: Strong technical depth in modern test automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, Rest Assured, Postman.
- CI/CD & Dev Ops Integration: Hands-on experience integrating automated testing gates into enterprise CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Dev Ops, AWS Code Pipeline).
- Test Management & Agile Tooling: Advanced expertise in Jira, Zephyr, Confluence.
- Data & Cloud Technologies: Experience with Test Data Management (TDM) tools, synthetic data generation, cloud infrastructure (AWS, or Azure), and modern database platforms (RDBMS, NoSQL, Kafka/event-driven architectures).
- Performance & Observability (Preferred): Familiarity with performance testing platforms (, JMeter, Neo Load, Performance Center) and observability/logging platforms (, Splunk, App Dynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus/Grafana).
Education & Certifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Certifications (Desirable): ISTQB Advanced/Expert Level, Certified Agile Leader / Scrum Master, AWS/Azure Cloud Certifications, or Dev Ops/QE leadership accreditations.
