Job title:Electronics Design EngineerFunctional objectives:Role Focus: Technical responsibility for electronic (sub-)projects or serving as an electronic technical specialist.Responsibility: Electronics design, testing, and verification ownership on several energy storage product areas to ensure all requirements and development processes are satisfied, with minimal guidance.Expertise: Solid electronics expertise in automotive embedded electronics with ability to solve complex problems.Communication: Managing interfaces with other departments, presenting technical results.Special Remarks: Expanded technical leadership tasks being accountable for product cost and schedule.Main Tasks:• Review customer specifications, industry standards, regulatory standards and internal design guidelines to establish product electrical requirements.• Performs the requirement analysis and validation planning activities in accordance with automotive functional safety and ASPICE processes with minimal guidance.• Performs design verification activities such as engineering analysis, simulation, design reviews, DFMEAs, validation testing and reporting in accordance with automotive functional safety and ASPICE processes with minimal guidance.• Creates core and customer electronic circuit designs covering analog, digital, micro-controller architecture, and power supplies with minimal guidance.• Generates technical requirements of electrical architecture and electrical circuit design, components and sub-assemblies including PCBA, contactors, fans, temperature sensors, Flex PCBs and other electrical hardware.• Generates hardware / software interface specifications and electronic test software requirements,



working closely with the embedded software engineering team.• Design and test for vehicle level electrical and electromagnetic performance per customer requirements. Optimize the electrical system design to balance cost, performance, mass, volume, and energy efficiency.• Participates in electrical design analyses and test results reviews in support of design verification.• Define test setups, plans, and execute tests for electrical circuits and components.• Provides support for Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders.• Supports technical investigations and resolutions of electrical component and circuit issues.• Develop relationships with suppliers to deliver components to specifications.• Assists in the design for manufacturability (DFM) to ensure that the design is optimized for manufacturing processes.• Actively participate on assigned project teams and tasks with other engineering discipline• Participant in engineering development meetings and occasionally provides direction to assist others in development tasks.• Able to work independently, managing on-time tasks and responsibilities while performing some tasks with minimal guidance.Education and professional knowledge:Tasks require knowledge/skillsBSEE from accredited four-year college or university.5-9 years of professional engineering experience in related fieldOE Automotive/Tier 1 embedded electronics design experienceProficient in the use of electronic design and development tools, including schematic capture, layout, analysis, and simulationExperience with electronic circuit debug and testExperience with requirement management toolsProficient in the use of electrical engineering equipment such as power supplies, DMM’s, and oscilloscopesCollaborative across multiple engineering disciplinesKnowledgeable of automotive test methods, standards, equipment, and certificationsExpert knowledge of CAN, LIN, and Ethernet and associated development toolsExperience with Li-Ion battery management
