About the Role

Our client, a leader in specialty chemical manufacturing, is looking for a dedicated Chemical Safety and Compliance Engineer to join their facility in Zapopan, Jalisco . This vital role ensures that all operations meet stringent safety standards and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety and environmental programs.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, JSA) to identify potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training to employees at all levels.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and environmental compliance.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and respond to inquiries or inspections.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage employee involvement in safety initiatives.
- Oversee chemical inventory management and waste disposal procedures.




- Stay current with changes in safety and environmental legislation and best practices.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in safety engineering, environmental compliance, or process safety within the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Proven experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong understanding of chemical hazards and control measures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Strong training and communication abilities.
- Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) is a strong plus.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in Zapopan, Jalisco or the surrounding Guadalajara metropolitan area is preferred.
