About the Role

Our client, WhatJobs Direct, is seeking a motivated Junior Backend Software Engineer to join an innovative technology company. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on challenging projects from anywhere within Mexico, though proximity to Querétaro City, Querétaro, MX is advantageous for occasional team gatherings. As a recent graduate, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend systems and APIs. Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js).
- Design and implement efficient database schemas and queries.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection.
- Work closely with product managers to understand project requirements.
- Engage actively in daily remote stand-ups and agile ceremonies.

Requirements





- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of backend development principles and practices.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Node.js).
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and development.
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Understanding of version control systems like Git.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for remote teamwork.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
