About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Engineer with expertise in separation processes to join their globally distributed, remote-first team. This role is central to designing and optimizing systems for separating chemical compounds, which is critical in many industrial applications. You will leverage your deep understanding of unit operations such as distillation, extraction, membrane separation, and crystallization. The position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere. You will collaborate with project managers, R&D; scientists, and other engineers to develop innovative and efficient separation solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, proficiency in process simulation software, and a proven ability to tackle complex engineering challenges independently. Key Responsibilities

- Design, model, and simulate various separation processes, including distillation, absorption, extraction, adsorption, filtration, and membrane technologies.
- Perform process optimization studies to improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and minimize waste in separation units.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;) for separation systems.
- Select appropriate equipment and materials for separation processes based on process requirements and economic factors.
- Collaborate with R&D; to scale up laboratory separation techniques to industrial levels.
- Conduct techno-economic analyses for new and existing separation processes.
- Troubleshoot operational issues related to separation equipment and processes.




- Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
- Stay current with advancements in separation technologies and computational tools.

Requirements

- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience focused on the design and analysis of separation processes.
- Expertise in at least two major separation techniques (e.g., distillation, membrane separation, crystallization).
- Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen Plus, UniSim, or similar.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, mass transfer, and fluid dynamics principles relevant to separation.
- Experience in scaling up processes from lab to pilot or full industrial scale.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects and work independently in a remote setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with process safety concepts and risk assessment.
