About the Role

Our client, WhatJobs Direct, is seeking an experienced Research Scientist in Pharmacology and Drug Discovery to join their innovative R&D; team. This hybrid role allows for a blend of remote work and on-site collaboration at our facilities in Cancún, Quintana Roo. You will play a critical role in identifying and validating novel drug targets, designing innovative therapeutic strategies, and advancing drug candidates through the preclinical development pipeline. This position requires a deep understanding of pharmacology, molecular biology, and drug development processes. Key Responsibilities

- Design and execute in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate drug efficacy and safety.
- Identify and validate novel drug targets for various therapeutic areas.
- Develop and optimize assays for screening compound libraries and assessing compound activity.
- Characterize the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drug candidates.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists to optimize lead compounds.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, and present findings to the research team.




- Contribute to the preparation of research reports, regulatory documents, and scientific publications.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in pharmacology, drug discovery, and relevant therapeutic areas.
- Manage research projects, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Mentor junior scientists and contribute to a positive team environment.

Requirements

- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience in drug discovery within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Proven experience in designing and conducting pharmacology studies (in vitro and/or in vivo).
- Strong understanding of drug discovery processes, from target identification to preclinical development.
- Hands-on experience with various biological assays and techniques.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using relevant software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience working in a hybrid or flexible work environment is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
