About the Role

Our client, a premier online purveyor of fine wines and spirits, is seeking a highly knowledgeable and customer-focused Sommelier and Wine List Manager to join their fully remote team. This role is ideal for an expert with a deep understanding of global wine regions, varietals, and food pairings, coupled with exceptional digital communication skills. You will be responsible for curating and managing the company's extensive wine portfolio, developing compelling wine lists for various online platforms and client events, and providing expert advice to customers. Your expertise will directly influence purchasing decisions and enhance the online wine-drinking experience for a discerning clientele, all from the comfort of your home office.

Key Responsibilities

- Curate, manage, and update the online wine inventory, ensuring accuracy and attractiveness.
- Develop and present sophisticated wine lists tailored to different customer segments and occasions.
- Provide expert wine recommendations and personalized consultations to customers via digital channels (email, chat, video calls).
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to identify and source new and exciting wines.
- Organize and conduct virtual wine tastings and educational webinars for customers and staff.
- Research and stay updated on general wine trends, market dynamics, and emerging producers.
- Manage wine-related content creation, including tasting notes, pairing suggestions, and articles.
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer inquiries related to wine selection, storage,



and service.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant alcohol sales and shipping regulations.
- Assist in developing marketing campaigns and promotional materials related to the wine portfolio.

Requirements

- Advanced Sommelier certification (e.g., CMS Advanced, WSET Level 3 or higher) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Sommelier or in a related wine management role, preferably in a high-end establishment or retail setting.
- Exceptional knowledge of Old World and New World wines, spirits, and their production methods.
- Strong understanding of wine and food pairing principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote interaction.
- Proficiency with online retail platforms and CRM systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Customer-centric approach with a passion for sharing wine knowledge.
- Experience with virtual event hosting is a significant advantage.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
